Corinna Obermayr: Corinna, daughter of long time Silver City residents Meg Burns and Erich Obermayr, graduated from Arizona University with a degree in political science this May and has already begun a graduate program in secondary education.

Cameron Ansart: An art work by long time Silver City resident Cameron Ansart was selected for a group show in Carson City sponsored by The Capital City Arts Initiative this spring. The exhibition, entitled High School Pic[ks] 2 can be viewed at The Brick gallery at 108 E Proctor Street until June 30, 2017.
Mylo McCormick, a 17-year-old native of Silver City, graduates from high school on May 31st with a headstart on college credits through Western Nevada College's Jump Start College Program. Catch him on stage this summer with Mo’z Motley Blues at the Brewery Arts Center Levitt Amp concerts, Kirkwood Ski Resort Summer Fest, Dangberg Ranch Concert Series, Glenbrook Golf Club and Camp Richardson at Tahoe, The Pink House in Genoa, Street Vibrations’ main stage concerts in Reno, The Red Dog Saloon, etc. Mylo will also offer a free acoustic concert at the Silver Pavilion at the Silver City Park on Tues June 6th from 10am to noon.
Larry Kotik: Long time Silver City resident Larry Kotik recently had his first solo art show, sponsored by the Silver City Arts group on May 6, 2017. It was well attended by both long-time and new fans of his work.
Erich Obermayr: Historical Archaeology in the Cortez Mining District, written by long time Silver City resident Erich Obermayr, and Robert McQueen, will fascinate readers interested in the archaeology of the West, mining history, and the history of Nevada. The book, published in 2016, is available at University Nevada Reno Press, Amazon, etc.
Robert Elston: In August 2016, long time Silver City resident Robert Elston (University of Nevada, Reno), Dave Zeanah (Sacramento State University), Brian Codding (University of Utah), and Craig Young (Far Western Anthropological Group) received a National Science Foundation grant for a multi-year archaeological project in Grass Valley, Nevada. They'll accomplish the field work by running a field school in 2017 and 2018 through Sacramento State, which will also administer the grant. Their research is focused on the Late Pleistocene between about 14,000 and 9,000 years ago after people first began to enter interior North America, and began to live in the Great Basin.
Will and Sheree Rose: Long time Silver City residents Will and Sheree Rose will perform as Red Rose on July 2nd from 1-3pm during Valhalla Tahoe’s annual Art, Music and Theater Festival. Will has been creating music and performing for more than 5 decades. His credits include "HAIR", "Taxi", several European tours, 7 CDs, and 6 musicals. He performs with Sheree Rose, who adds to the beat with her "weapons of mass percussion" and sultry ballads. They play a variety of original music with strong reggae ties and influences of jazz, blues, rock, and funk.
Diane Kotik: Silver City cellist Diane Kotik performs with the Carson Symphony at the 33rd Annual Pops Party Concert at the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City on Sunday, June 11 at 4:30 pm. The concert also features the Carson City Symphony Chorus and guest singer CeCe Gable. Grounds open and pre-concert entertainment begins around 3:30pm. In other recent concerts, Diane also performed this spring with the Carson City Symphony during their “World Music” concert at the Carson City Community Center and with the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra during their "Pops Plays Piper" concert in Virginia City at the historic Piper Opera House.
