2015 Christmas Party in Historic Silver City, Nevada

The annual Silver City, Nevada Christmas dinner party sponsored by the local Volunteer Fire Department was fun for all ages. As always, there was lots of delicious holiday food, and Santa himself arrived with presents for children.

Long time resident Robert Elston, PhD, commented, "But topping everything was a special gift to Silver City from Doug Beverly Brown, our local woodworking artist. Doug wanted to give back to the community for all he has received from it, and to recognize the efforts of those who have contributed to building and maintaining our community by serving on the Town Board, Lyon County Parks Board, and in the Fire Department, and those who have brought music, dances, art exhibits, soup socials, kids' programs, yoga, and Tai Chi to the town, and those who have worked to protect our quality of life. Doug crafted a table for use in Town Advisory Board meetings, using old wood salvaged from the wreckage of the original Silver City School House (1867) that burned down in 2004. It is truly an amazing work of art...But much greater than the physical object is Doug's spirit, generosity and loving kindness..."
