Silver City Arts Group News and Notes Spring 2016

Silver City, Nevada - The Silver City Arts group draws on the community's own rich resource of visual artists, artisans and musicians, and also connects with regional and statewide nonprofits to bring in programming by national and international artists and musicians. The group's mission is "to encourage the arts, build community, and share our unique town through free, public events." Below are news briefs about upcoming events:

Acoustic jam session, Saturday May 28th from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at the Silver City School House. Acoustic jam sessions are offered on the 4th Saturday of each month. If you like to sing, or you play a musical instrument, or if you simply enjoy music, come to the jam session.

Community Dinner Night, Friday May 6th at 6pm. This month's dinner at the Silver City School House will feature Vegetarian Tortilla Soup (recipe by Cashion Callaway) and a play-list of Latin music. Attendees are invited to add salads, beverages, desserts or appetizers.

Shaun is not only one of the West's highly admired poets, he's also been a great friend to rural communities across Nevada, including Silver City, through his work as director of the social justice agency Community Chest Inc. His memoir is a vivid record of his life in Nevada that describes the state's spectacular scenic beauty, and efforts by he and his wife Deborah Loesch Griffin to bring about social change.
